Why Become a Member?
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of Sickle Cell Association of the National Capital Area, Inc. SCANCA, INC. is the only local organization in the metropolitan area offering extensive services to the Sickle Cell community. With the necessary documentation, sickle cell individuals and their family receives financial support for delinquent utilities, rentals and mortgages needs; assistance with funerals, burials and purchase of medications, food, etc. At least two scholarships are given annually to individuals with sickle cell furthering their education and we assist with the cost of summer camp for affected children. These services would be impossible without the liberal giving by our donors.
