Let’s Talk Mental Health – Spring Workshop on May 3

Mental health matters—especially in communities impacted by sickle cell disease. That’s why the Sickle Cell Association of the National Capital Area, Inc. (SCANCA, Inc.) is hosting its Annual Spring Workshop on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 12 PM to 2 PM at Ron Brown College Preparatory High School in Washington, DC.

This year’s theme is simple but powerful: Let’s Talk Mental Health. The workshop will create a space for real conversations around depression, bullying, low self-esteem, financial stress, and other mental health challenges that often go unspoken among sickle cell warriors and their families.

Attendees will enjoy a supportive environment with food, fun, and educational activities. Whether you’re living with sickle cell, caring for someone who is, or simply want to understand how mental health intersects with chronic illness, this event is for you.

SCANCA, Inc. is committed to reminding our community that no one has to face these battles alone. This workshop is an opportunity to gather, learn, and take a step forward—together.
