Benevolence
The Benevolence Committee at SCANCA, Inc. is dedicated to providing essential financial support to individuals with sickle cell disease and their families. Comprised of three members, including the Chair, an executive committee member, and at least one individual with sickle cell disease, the committee carefully reviews requests for monetary contributions. Eligible recipients include individuals diagnosed with sickle cell disease or related hemoglobinopathy, as well as parents or legal guardians of affected individuals residing in their home. Our mission is to ensure that those in need receive the necessary assistance to manage their daily lives and medical expenses.
Financial support is provided for a variety of needs, including rent or mortgage payments, utility bills, food, medical expenses directly related to sickle cell disease, and funeral arrangements. In cases of extended hospitalization, limited assistance for transportation costs is also available. Requests must be submitted in writing with proof of disease status, and the committee strives to make decisions within 48 hours. Through our Benevolence Program, SCANCA, Inc. aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by our community, fostering a supportive and caring environment for all.
